  • This Khalkhal kilim is made of hand spun wool in warp and weft. The weaver has designed a conventional structure of central medallions and four corners which can be seen in most of persian kilims, an important feature of this rare kilim is Its artistic expression. refusal of the use of ethnic motifs, has led to the special design of this flatweave, so that it bears a strong resemblance to what we can see in contemporary visual arts. The pattern of this kilim is predominantly abstract, And the clever arrangement of colors is done in such a way that artistic expression takes precedence over addressing the indigenous beliefs, found in most persian weavings. The composition is created by three distinct central medallions aligned in a red background. Kilim weaving is common among rustic and semi-nomadic women of Khalkhal ,this village is one of the productive kilim centers in the country.
